Stars to Return to the NPSL in 2016
Junior Lone Star FC is pleased to announce that the club will be returning to the National Premier Soccer League next summer for the 2016 season.
The Stars took a hiatus during the 2015 season to concentrate on the restructuring of the club. The club has so far obtained a non-profit status, launched an Academy Program, and is now planning to launch a stadium project which is expected to be completed before the 2016 NPSL season. Additionally, the club is expected to be re-branded by the end of this year.
Even though the Stars were on hiatus from the NPSL during the 2015 season, they have been actively involved in various soccer tournaments during the year.
In April, the Stars travelled to Puerto Rico on an invitational soccer tour where they made history when they defeated the Puerto Rico National Team 1-0. The Stars also defeated three other Puerto Rican professional clubs: Guayama FC 2-0, LEAL Arecibo 4-0, and Bayamon FC 2-0 to complete their successful tour unbeaten and without conceding a goal.
In addition to the Puerto Rico Tour, the Stars were also involved in several major African soccer tournaments within the United States, namely:
- Cavalla FC Tournament in Philadelphia, PA;
- U.S. Emirates Cup (Champions) in Essex, MD;
- Roberts Independence Day Tournament (Champions) in Bristol, PA;
- U.S. African Cup (Quarter-Finalists) in Worcester, MA;
- Battle of the States (Semi-Finalists) in Charlotte, NC;
- Salone FC Soccer Tournament in Philadelphia, PA; and
- Community Cup USA (Champions) in Baltimore, MD.
Junior Lone Star Football Club joined the NPSL in 2012 and they are 16-15-4 (W-L-D) in three seasons – they finished fifth in the Northeast’s Keystone Conference in their inaugural season in 2012, fourth in 2013, and third in 2014. Coach Bobby Ali has been at the helm during those seasons.
