PHILADELPHIA – Junior Lone Star Football Club (@JuniorLoneStar) today announced that the club will be hosting its 15th Anniversary Celebration from Friday, May 13th to Sunday, May 15th to coincide with the 2016 Battle of the East Soccer Tournament (B.E.S.T) in Philadelphia, PA.
The Stars 15th Anniversary Celebration will bring together the Stars current roster of players, coaches, alumni and personalities to celebrate the history of the Junior Lone Star FC organization.
On Friday, May 13th, matches will be played to open the 2016 B.E.S.T. On Saturday, May 14th, the tournament will resume in the morning up to 7:30pm at both the Papa’s Playground Fields and the Granaham Park Field in Philadelphia, PA after which preparation will be made to commence the club’s 15th Anniversary Awards Gala at 9:00pm at Our Mother of Sorrow Hall on 1008 N. 48th Street, Philadelphia, PA.
The two-hour program will include a series of speakers and a multimedia presentation covering several facets of the team’s history and heritage. The event is designed to provide a retrospective look back on the Stars 15-year history and on the indelible bond that has been created between the organization and its players as well as with the City of Philadelphia and Stars fans all over the world.
Over the club’s first 15 years in the Philadelphia Area, the Stars have been one of the most successful, innovative and recognizable African soccer brands within the United States.
This celebration will recall the Stars historic and proud past, including; the club’s founding in 2001; the long list of talented players that have worn the Stars colors; the impact Junior Lone Star FC have had on its players, the City of Philadelphia and its surrounding communities; and most importantly, the unbridled support and passion of Stars fans.
The club’s 15th Anniversary Celebration will end on Sunday, May 15th with a cookout and the Battle of the East Soccer Tournament’s Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Final.
Tickets for the Awards Gala and After Party are now available for $20 on the club’s website at www.juniorlonestarfc.org/shop. Commemorative Scarves are also available for purchase for $20. Additional details and attendees will be released shortly.
Meanwhile, 10 of the 12 teams have been confirmed to compete in the 2016 Battle of the East Soccer Tournament (B.E.S.T.) during the Stars’ 15th Anniversary Celebration. The teams are:
