JUNIOR LONE STAR FC 4-1 ASF SELECT

USASA Region I Amateur Cup Quarter-Finals | Monsignor Bonner High School Stadium | Scorers: Chelleh 43′ 45+3’ , N’Guessan 85′ , Allison 90′ / Nooran 28′

Josh Chelleh scored a brace while defender Kouassi N’Guessan and forward Anthony Allison had a goal apiece as the Stars came from a goal down to defeat the Metro-DC/VA Champions ASF Select 4-1 in the 2017 USASA Region I Amateur Cup Quarter-finals held at the Monsignor Bonner High School Stadium yesterday.

The Stars started sloppily and they paid the price when Fasih Nooran rose up the highest to head in a corner, putting the visitors ahead in the 28th minute.

After the goal, the technical staff of Junior Lone Star FC made a tactical change which saw Anthony Allison moving to the left and Vlandy Slueue moving into the center. That changed the game considerably as the visitors were put under intense pressure.

After series of opportunities, the Stars equalized via Josh Chelleh in the 43rd minute. A pass from Slueue to Amadou Sheriff saw the latter lobbing the ball in the path of Chelleh who unleashed a powerful shot in the net.

Chelleh would then go on to complete his brace in the third minute of first half injury time after Allison dribbled his way past three defenders to lay the ball across goal for a simple tap-in.

After the break, the visitors had few chances to equalize but goalie Prince Monyan was up to the task, denying them another goal.

As the game was winding down in the latter stages, the Stars increased their lead to 3-1 when defender Kouassi N’Guessan coolly slotted in a pass from Slueue in the bottom left corner of the net in the 85th minute.

The Stars would then go on to seal an emphatic win with last year top scorer Anthony Allison unleashing a 25-yard thunderbolt in the 90th minute for the 4-1 win and a spot in the semi-final away to the Western New York champions the Rochester Riverdogz Reserves on Sunday, May 7th.

Before then, the Stars will return to league (PPSL) action on Tuesday, April 11th away to Salone FC at the Lindbergh Boulevard Field. Kickoff is at 6:00 PM.
