Former PLSFC Defender Joseph Aidoo Signs for FC Llapi

Former Philadelphia Lone Star FC defender Joseph Aidoo has signed a two-year contract with FC Llapi of the IPKO Superleague of Kosovo. The signing is pending the Superleague and Kosovo Football Federation approval.

The 23-year old Liberian international defender joined his new club from TSV Oldenburg of Germany’s Landesliga Weser-Ems.

Aidoo impressed FC Llapi manager Tahir Batatinë during his two-week trial with the club. According to Batatinë, Aidoo will be sent on loan to fellow Superleague side KF Ballkani for the rest of the 2018-19 season before returning to FC Llapi for the start of the 2019-20 IPKO Superleague season.

For the past six years, Joseph Aidoo’s career has progressed remarkably with the help of his manager Arnold Kennedy of the Arnold Players Management and Scouting Agency.

Aidoo spent four years with Philadelphia Lone Star FC before moving on to Europe.

After joining Philadelphia Lone Star FC Academy in 2012, he led the U19s to the USL Super-20 Mid-Atlantic Division title in 2013 as well as two national appearances at the USL Super-20 Nationals in 2013 and 2014.

He was then promoted to the Under-23 team where he helped the U23s reach the USASA Region I U23 finals in 2014.

After he was promoted to the First Team, Aidoo captained the team to its first-ever EPSA State Amateur Cup and Open Cup titles in 2016 before leaving for Sweden to join Uppsala-Kurd FK where he helped them gain promotion to the Swedish Division III in 2017.

Aidoo later transferred to Germany’s TSV Oldenburg for the remainder of the 2017-18 season earlier this year before now transferring to FC Llapi in Kosovo Superleague.

On the national team level, Aidoo was invited to play for Liberia’s Under-23 team during the 2016 Olympic Qualifiers against Ghana in April 2015 but had to miss out while on club duty with Philadelphia Lone Star in Puerto Rico where he played in the club’s 1-0 victory against Puerto Rico National Team.

However, the 23-year old defender made his international debut on the senior team level for Liberia in the friendly match against Sierra Leone earlier this year.
